Bursting with charming original features celebrating the local history and heritage of the historic surrounding village of Orford, be transported to centuries past at this traditional Suffolk hideaway perfectly placed to enjoy the unspoilt landscape of this beautiful corner of Suffolk’s coastline.

Driftwood accents, exposed brick fireplaces, original brick flooring and sloping beam-clad ceilings throughout these two traditional Suffolk buildings create an endlessly tranquil atmosphere that beckons you to soothe weary walking muscles beside roaring electric log-effect fire in the rustic dining room, get creative with your delicious local produce in the farmhouse-style kitchen and hunker down on the comfy sofas in the lounge for the ultimate film night in front of the TV. As day turns to dusk, you have three characterful bedrooms upstairs that all feature a calming colour palette of neutral tones, plus a converted old bakery building accessed outside the main building which houses an additional en-suite bedroom that features the same rustic décor as the main cottage. Dine long into the evening and star gaze way past bedtime in the enclosed patio garden.

One of the prettiest coastal villages in East Anglia, it’s easy to see why the picturesque town of Orford has been inspiring artists for decades, with its 12th-century castle ruins, idyllic quay and fantastic views across the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the town centre is also home to some of the best, award-winning local produce this area has to offer. Dive into the rich history of the area by discovering Orford Castle less than half a mile away to be rewarded with breathtaking views seaward to Orford Ness. Booked at relatively short notice, but process was quick and painless. Me and my three children enjoyed our stay at Moat Cottage. The village is lovely and there was plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. We had fun evenings playing board games in the dining room, which is real rarity now the kids are all teenagers ??

We enjoyed our stay at Moat Cottage. We also really enjoyed Orford; the pubs, walks, Pump House Bakery and carols at the Church.
