Property code: OC-WATTB

Situated within the grounds of Wattisham Hall and surrounded by glorious Suffolk countryside, sits this delightful four-bedroom barn conversion. Offering plenty of space, it is ideal for a gathering of friends or a family reunion.

Large in size, the property has everything you could want to keep guests of all ages entertained. Inside, the open-plan ground floor combines old-world charm with comfortable decor, and wooden beams, brick flooring, and white tones create a soothing atmosphere. After a day exploring, unwind on the large sofas with a film on the TV, or on chillier nights snuggle up in front of the wood burner. The lounge overlooks a huge dining table that invites sociability and a well-equipped kitchen with everything you’ll need to prepare delicious meals. On this floor, you’ll also find two light and airy bedrooms featuring a double bed and a single bed, and a convenient family bathroom. From the ground floor, a narrow staircase sweeps up to the first floor where two further bedrooms are located. Choose between the master bedroom with a super-king-size bed and a lovely twin bedroom. Wonderfully serene, the rooms are adorned with homely comforts, swathed in natural light, and boast peaceful countryside views. Outside there’s a fenced patio area overlooking a medieval moat. Gather everyone together, light the BBQ, and enjoy a meal at the garden table or enjoy a soak in the hot tub. Younger children will also love the play area with its swings and slides while older ones can enjoy a game of table tennis or table football in the games room. Both play areas are shared with guests from two neighbouring cottages.

Pull on walking boots and enjoy countryside walks straight from your doorstep or head to Wattisham Airfield Museum (3 miles) and view the old aircraft. Kids can also pet the alpacas at the local alpaca farm. For a day out head 9.5 miles to Lavenham, England’s finest medieval village. Spend the afternoon browsing the independent shops or take a stroll through Lavenham Woodland with its butterflies and variety of bird species.

It was a lovely place to stay, very friendly, helpful hosts. I just think 9am check out is a bit too early, especially after being asked to strip beds, and remove rubbish as well as the usual packing. A rushed end to a lovely weekend.
