Peasenhall lies on the A1120 Tourist Route which runs through the beautiful Suffolk countryside between Yoxford and Stowmarket. The village runs alongside The Causeway, a tributary of the River Yox and has some curious claims to fame, including the 1902 unsolved murder mystery. Emmetts’ of Peasenhall is world famous for its Suffolk ham and bacon which is prepared on site at the back of the store in the traditional manner; there is also a café on site and a chance to see how the ham is produced. There is also Creasey’s, an award-winning butchers, at the other end of the village. Another claim to fame is that Peasenhall is the birthplace of the Smyth seed and manure drills, commemorated on the village sign, which were manufactured here for 160 years; the factory was recognised for its innovation in production and was celebrated worldwide. You may also hear the strange cries of an exotic bird in Peasenhall. The village is home to several peacocks who can often be seen wandering around. Although Peasenhall cannot boast a pub, The White Horse, in the neighbouring village of Sibton is just a 15 minute walk away and is renowned for its wonderful food.
