Dating back to the early 1800s, The Golden Cross in Mendham along with its neighbouring cottage The Kiln are Grade II listed cottages situated within the owners grounds which have been cleverly converted into holiday accommodation. The Golden Cross is a single storey cottage accommodating up to four guests in the most comfortable surroundings with everything you could need for a self-catering break on hand.

The cottage is accessed by French doors from the front patio area which lead into the open plan room consisting of your living space, dining area and kitchen. With wood flooring throughout, this area is perfect for your pet to curl up and enjoy your company whether you’re dining, relaxing or cooking up a feast.

There’s a choice of two bedrooms with the master having a king size bed and the second bedroom having two single beds. Both bedrooms feature ceiling beams and come with large wardrobes for storing personal items, with the twin bedroom having a dressing table and stool.

Outside there’s a small enclosed patio area private to the cottage, in addition, guests can also take advantage of the owner’s garden.

The village of Mendham is a quaint village on the Suffolk/Norfolk border east of the River Waveney. Mendham is a historical Suffolk village which is just 2 miles from the small market town of Harleston and 7.5 miles away from the better known market town of Bungay. For lovers of the coast Southwold is less than 30 minutes’ drive away.

The Golden Cross suits guests of all ages who are looking for a peaceful getaway with family, friends plus two dogs!

Mendham is a traditional Suffolk village located on the Suffolk/Norfolk border. The River Waveney is east of Mendham and you’ll find nearby market towns of Diss, Bungay and Harleston within an easy drive. Harleston is closest to Mendham and has an abundance of shops, a supermarket, cafes and more, plus a market day every Wednesday. Mendham is perfectly placed for exploring the Waveney Valley with its glorious landscapes waiting to be found by foot or bicycle. A day out on the Waveney water is a must - be it by boat or canoe - you can even book mini cruises for short trips. You’ll find local tourist information centres packed with route maps, cycle leaflets and further information on all attractions and days out whilst exploring this part of Suffolk. Don’t forget if a trip to the coast is on your agenda the postcard coastal town of Southwold with its colourful beach huts and award winning Pier is just 18 miles away by car.
