With a sunny patio for al fresco meals and a wood burner for cosy evenings in, this ground-floor lodge is a lovely year-round getaway for couples and small families, plus furry friends. Close to the village of Darsham, within easy reach of footpaths and forests, and less than 12 miles from both Aldeburgh and Southwold, it’s a great base for walking, cycling and touring the Suffolk coast.
Set all on one level, this super property is both smart and comfortable. Its open-plan lounge/diner is spacious and bright, centred around a large brick chimney with a wood burner. Enjoy a winter’s evening on the leather sofas and chairs, watching a favourite movie on the Smart TV. You can choose between dining here or in the large kitchen, which is equipped with everything you’ll need to create romantic suppers or family feasts. The generously sized bedrooms, one king-size and the other a twin, each have TVs, DVDs and radios, and they share a family bathroom. The small patio outside is a great spot for a cup of coffee or an al fresco meal in warmer weather, and has a BBQ if you’re in the mood for grilling something tasty. There are further shared grounds, too, including a pond and woodland where you can walk your pets.
This delightful cottage is only a mile from a shop and bakery, and 1.5 miles from the attractive village of Darsham, where there’s a family- and dog-friendly pub serving fresh food. The A12 is only 200m away, meaning that the popular villages, towns and attractions in this part of Suffolk are easily accessible by car, while the railway station in Darsham will connect you to London and Lowestoft. The charming village of Yoxford, with its antiques shops and second-hand-book retailers, is only 2.5 miles away.
