Elkhorn offers space and light aplenty with high ceilings and grand windows throughout. A contemporary Victorian sanctuary, the property has a fresh feel as sunshine pours through the rooms and hallways. Located between Southwold beach and lighthouse, guests will have the best of British seaside tradition on their doorstep. Whether cooking at home or grabbing a Friday night supper from the renowned Little Fish and Chip Shop, Elkhorn’s kitchen diner and dining room offer various seating options and all the amenities needed for self-catering. Guests can unwind, drink and catch up around the marvellous dining table, eat fresh Southwold produce at the kitchen table or enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the kitchen’s breakfast bar.
On the first floor and in one of two living rooms, both with period fire places, guests will find original French doors that lead out onto a fantastic balcony. The blue and yellow colour palettes of the room create a calm and welcoming environment where guests can put their feet up and enjoy the Sky Variety Bundle on the flat screen television. Downstairs, guests can engage in activity in the play room, a wonderful area where big or little kids can enjoy their own time with amenities such as a Freeview TV and music centre.
Spread across the first and second floors, all five bedrooms are so cosy and comfy that previous guests have been known to comment on the comfiness of Elkhorn’s beds! The luxurious master bedroom offers a dreamy king size slumber and a fabulous en-suite bathroom. Other bedrooms have access to the family sized bathroom which was refitted in 2018 and ground floor shower room where guests can wash the Suffolk sand off of their toes. Rare for Southwold, particularly in a property so close to the sea, Elkhorn has the added bonus of private outdoor space. A paved courtyard at the rear of the property provides privacy and outdoor rattan furniture where guests can enjoy dining al fresco.
Why We Love This Property: We love Elkhorn’s French doors that lead on to the wonderfully Victorian balcony. Overlooking the quiet Southwold street that blends into the sea, guests can fill their lungs with clean and fresh salty air as they watch the seagulls glide through the Suffolk skies. Ideally situated and very well appointed.
Ideal for our family needs.
We really enjoyed our stay and it had just the right amount of space and things for our enjoyment of the week altogether.
Ideal for a large group, the best rental place we have used in Southwold.
Elkhorn was a great house, close to the beach, the shops and the pubs/restaurants. It was in excellent condition and the best Southwold property we have used over the years.
