Bawdesy lies on the estuary of the River Deben, where walkers and weekend sailors sit outside the pubs gazing across to the pine forests and heathland of the Bawdsey Peninsula. Nearby, Bawdsey Manor was where radar was developed and there are lots of historical sites to visit around the area. There is also a sandy beach for children, and sailing at Bawdesy Quay only two miles away. From here you can take the foot ferry to Felixstowe Ferry just across the river.

Standing just a few metres from the coastal cliff south of Aldeburgh and Orford, Rose Cottage is in an ideal location for touring the Heritage Coast.  Woodbridge, Sutton Hoo, RSPB Minsmere, are all within an easy drive.  Beautifully refurbished to provide a comfortable, spacious, and delightful base, this property has a large fenced garden overlooking the sea as well as its own paddock.  There are lovely walks in the surrounding countryside and good pubs and restaurants within a couple of miles at Woodbridge and Orford. Bawdsey (1 mile) has a pub, tennis courts and a children's play area. Beach is 10 minutes walk. Bawdsey Quay with sandy beach, water sports and sailing school is 2 miles.
